GATE INFRASTRUCTURE OPTIMISATION FOR THE BOARDING PROCESS AUTOMATION AT THE ZURICH AIRPORT

As part of a study for the Zurich Airport, aviena evaluated in 2011 in collaboration with the Institute of Data Analysis and Process Design the layout of the terminal area before the entry to the passenger boarding bridge. Among other things, the effect of the use of automated boarding gates, so-called E-Gates, on the boarding time has been examined.

AIRBUS A380 AT ZURICH AIRPORT (LSZH): SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF DEVIATIONS FROM DECREES ACCORDING TO ICAO ANNEX 14

In January 2010, the wide-body aircraft A380 landed for the first time at Zurich Airport. Due to the size of the airplane (e.g. wingspan), international standards regarding distances between airplanes and permanently installed airport infrastructures were not met at various locations of the airport site.

EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN SWITZERLAND (EURO 08): PROJECT MANAGEMENT, SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE

For the European Football Championship 2008 in Switzerland, various measures for the safeguarding of the Swiss airspace were implemented. These included temporary decrees, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in the airspace over Swiss sporting venues as well as extensions of airports’ hours of operations for the check-in of arriving football fans.
